About Meee!
I am Scott Sigl. I am a space wizard from the planet Zebulon 9. My poems are written in my native language "Gloobzon" and translated into English by Stephen Hawking. You will find references to, and parallels of American life in my poetry, make no mistake though, I am not of this planet. The reason that you can relate to my writing is just a tribute to how other-worldy as well as universal it truly is.
My Personal Relationship to Poetry
I, Scott Sigl am a performance poet and spoken word artist. I have competed in local as well as national poetry competitions while representing Philadelphia. I have been writing since childhood but only truly began to take poetry seriously when I was 18, a freshman in college at Rowan University. The entire body of work that you will come to love and worship has been created in a span of about 4 years. In this time I have been featured at multiple venues in New Jersey and Philadelphia, represented the Philadelphia Fuze at the National Poetry Slam in 2012 and 2013, led numerous writing workshops at Rowan University and am now President of Rowan University's spoken word poetry group "Lyrical Alliance."
Performance poetry is my most familiar style but I am certainly a fan of written poetry as well. Poets such as Carl Sandburg, Langston Hughes, and Charles Bukowski inspire me just as much as Patricia Smith and Buddy Wakefield. I am hoping to better understand the structure and process of writing for as many poets as I can and trying to simply expose myself to as many new writing styles as I can.

Style and Voice
Regarding my style and voice, I find that voice is in a way just a part of my writing that will happen naturally if I instead focus on tone, emotional context, and precision of my language. My poetic voice can range from extremely direct and blunt to pensive and dreamy, I feel that the voice and style should be determined by the subject matter of the poem and feelings and messages that I am trying to convey.
